The focus is on Jesus!

Once Saved, Always Saved?

I believe the Bible is ALWAYS correct (Proof of the truthfulness of the Bible can be found here.), and so it has puzzled me at times when I have read things in it that seem to contradict itself.

For example, Philippians 1:6 and other verses seem to say that there is nothing that can separate us from God.  "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6 KJV)  How can this say anything other than Once Saved, Always Saved?

So I went to other verses to help me better understand this verse.  I think this one help me understand this topic the most.  "My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. John 10:29 NIV.

So once I commit myself to Jesus I can never be lost, right?  That's not what is being said here.  This verse is saying that "No one" can remove us, true.  But we still have the right and the God-given ability to jump, walk or crawl out of His hand on our own.  God will not force us to stay in His protective care.  We have been given total freedom by God Himself, and He will not take that back.  But we are ONLY free if we remain under His care.

"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."  John 8:36
