MORE Road Blocks Please!

I was thinking about open doors and closed doors the other day after reading an old note of mine. It read something like, “Lord, send more road blocks!”  The thought was that in order for us to find the door He has opened for us He would need to guide us, but that would require Him to do things that make us change our path such as closing doors to things we think we should be allowed to do. Right?

If u want water to go where u want it to go then u have to build “road blocks”.  We  might call these berms, ditches, dams, buildings, walls, basically anything that will divert the water.

I want God to guide me down whatever path He wants me to follow  just like we guide water down a ditch “path”.  I don’t want to be rushing along so fast that I actually leave the path when He wants me to turn either.  I don't want to leave the personally customized path He made for me.  I want to travel as slow or as fast as HE wants me to travel.

So maybe in my prayers I should be asking for more road blocks and more closed doors?  And why not?  God wants me to be happy beyond my wildest dreams!  He wants me to live a life FULL of joy, and He doesn’t want it to ever stop.  God apparently wants me to be happier than I want me to be, or at least happier than I know how to make me be.

I recall a time when I was a kid that my mom, dad, younger brother and I were driving up into the mountains of southern California.  This was going to be the first time the two of us kids had ever seen snow up close.  My brother and I were extremely EXCITED!

Sure enough, way back in the trees on the way up the mountain my brother and I caught a glimpse of snow piles!  They were covered with Pine needles and branches, but that didn’t matter to us. We begged dad to stop and let us play. I couldn’t believe it, but my dad actually said, “NO”. But it wasn’t long before we were surrounded by snow. Snow was everywhere, and it was way more fun than those few piles of dirty snow could have given us. It was beyond our wildest dreams!

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Psalm 32:8 (NLT)
