The focus is on Jesus!

Are You a Chip Off the Old Block?

"Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."

Matthew 5:48 NIV

It has been said that Imitation is the greatest form of flattery and maybe it is.  Aren't we as Christians supposed to imitate our Father in Heaven, not simply to flatter Him but to honor Him?

Think about this for a minute.  What are your actions showing?  Are they showing that you are choosing to imitate your Heavenly Father, or are they showing everyone that you really only care about yourself?

After watching you, would I be drawn toward the One you say you are imitating? Would I be interested in being like you because you are imitating your Father, or will I have no interest in our Heavenly Father at all because of what I see in you?

Without Jesus showing us what the Father is like we wouldn't know Him, but now when we imitate Jesus we are also imitating our Heavenly Father.  And the only way to imitate Jesus is to get close to Him and study Him.   Get closer!
